An Intimate Wedding Ceremony at Sheffield Town Hall
There’s something really special about intimate wedding ceremonies. Ellie and Martin had their wedding ceremony at Sheffield Town Hall, surrounded by just their close family members. In a small gathering it often feels like the emotions somehow run higher, and this was no exception.
I travelled in to Sheffield with Martin and his family and we arrived around an hour before the ceremony was due to start. Martin’s family are from Scotland, so Martin and his brother were both kitted out in kilts made from the traditional family tartan (and in fact it turns out Martin’s family are originally from a town just next to the small town the my Dad grew up in!).
A Sheffield Town Hall Wedding
I loved the start of this wedding. Ellie and her Dad were dropped off by a taxi driver who lives on her street, and then they walked through the Peace Gardens right in the centre of town to make their way to the entrance of Sheffield Town Hall.
Waiting inside for her to arrive was a nervous looking Martin! I’ve known Martin for a few years now, and it’s fair to say that he’s a pretty laid back kind of guy. But as the bridesmaids started to walk in you could see the emotions and nervous excitement were affecting even him!
There was an emotional embrace at the start to the ceremony as Ellie reached Martin. Little moments like those are the ones that really make a wedding for me. So unrehearsed and raw. It’s a fleeting moment where people are acting on pure emotion and instinct before the formalities begin.
After a beautiful ceremony, with emotional readings from the two young bridesmaids and Martin’s sister, we went outside to the Peace Gardens for some photographs.
I finished off the day by heading to the Botanical Garden’s with Ellie and Martin for some couples’ photographs there. It’s a really beautiful setting there, especially on a sunny spring day with all the the flowers in bloom.
The perfect way to end the day. Wishing Marting and Ellie all the happiness in the world as they start their new lives together in Sheffield as husband and wife!
