Back in 2012 I photographed a wedding on a working farm close to the town I grew up in. That was the wedding of Emma and George; it was a wedding and a couple that I had really fond memories of. So I was so happy when Emma’s sister Lizzie got in touch to ask if I would photograph her wedding this summer just past.

It was a very different wedding to photograph, with this one being mid summer and Emma and George’s being a winter wedding, but there were a lot of familiar faces there and I loved being back there.

Lizzie and Matt had friends and family travel from all over to come and celebrate the day with them, and what a day it was! The speeches were some of the most heartwarming, funny and emotional that I’ve heard. The tears rolled, the laughter was big, the expressions said it all.

They had wind, they had rain and they had sun, and even a rainbow. And at the end of the day they had the beautiful of sunsets. We made the most of it too. We went out to the fields behind the farm as the sunset and took some relaxed portraits of the two of them.

I knew this was going to be a great day before I even got there and it didn’t disappoint in the slightest. There’s nothing more enjoyable to photograph that the laughter, warmth and connection between couples, families and friends.
