Glebe Farm Wedding Photography
When Ellen got in touch to talk to me about wedding photography I was absolutely stoked, but also a little nervous. I should probably explain that I’ve known Ellen a very long time. We went to school together but had lost touch a bit over the years. It’s such an honour to be asked to photograph a wedding of someone you know, and it also adds an extra pressure. I always want to do an amazing job for the couples who I photograph, and that feeling is only multiplied in this case.
Ellen and Ian live in Leeds but got married near Ellen’s childhood home in the Nottinghamshire countryside. They had their ceremony at the local church before moving onto Glebe Farm for the reception. The barn had undergone one of the most impressive transformations I’ve seen for a wedding venue. What started as a plain looking metal barn had been turned into a stunning and unique wedding venue (big kudos to Every Occasion Marquees who did an amazing job).
There is so much to talk about for this wedding, from the emotion running throughout the day, to the pyrotechnics in the first dance and the amazing fireworks display in the evening. Ellen and Ian (and their host of helpers) had clearly put a lot of thought and hard work into the planning of this wedding, and it really paid off.
But for all the beautiful decorations, brilliant entertainment, and attention to detail, there is nothing I love more at a wedding than real, genuine, heartfelt emotion. When I arrived to meet Ian in the morning and he started to well up when his Mum saw him, I knew this was going to be a good day.
The emotion continued throughout the day, and at so many times I found myself smiling behind the camera as I continued to photograph the moments as they unfolded.
I sent Ellen some previews images from their wedding while they were still away on Honeymoon, and the response blew me away
I know you do this all the time & people probably rave about your work all the time but I just had to email again!!!
Currently sat on our balcony in Koh Samui drinking our complimentary champagne looking at the pics again!! We TOTALLY LOVE THEM!!!
There’s one – don’t even know if you realised this – but you’ve got Al (my maid of honour & best bud in the whole world) carrying my beautiful dress & in the background is a picture that’s actually the dried flowers from my mum’s wedding bouquet!!!
Your eye for detail in the others, which is obviously on purpose, is GREAT!!! We had the most magical day ever & we are in complete agreement that you managed to capture our bundles of joy:).
The day itself went by so quick – & was so COMPLETELY AMAZING – that we were worried it wouldn’t be truly captured or that our memories might one day fade – but with these pics you’ve absolutely nailed it!!
I couldn’t wish for a better reaction, and emails like this one are a constant reminder to me of why I work so hard on a wedding day to capture moments in the best way I can.
